The government has announced that farmers in Madhya Pradesh will get electricity connections for just five rupees. However, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar accused the BJP of not fulfilling its manifesto and demanded free electricity for farmers. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has made several decisions in favor of farmers and announced the Rs 5 electricity connection scheme. In response, Umang Singhar said the government should focus on strengthening farmers financially and providing them with free electricity.

Promotion of Food Processing

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized the importance of promoting food processing to help farmers. He pointed out that many times, farmers are forced to throw away their crops, such as potatoes and tomatoes, on the roads because they are unable to get a fair price. This issue has occurred repeatedly over the past 20 years. By promoting food processing, farmers can prosper economically and reduce such waste.

Rs 5 Electricity Connection for Farmers

At the Kisan Aabhar Sammelan on Sunday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that farmers will now receive permanent electricity connections for just five rupees. He instructed the central region to begin implementing this initiative immediately, with plans to roll it out across the state in phases.

10-10 Lakh Connections Annually

The Chief Minister stated that the government is dedicated to improving farmers’ lives and making them self-reliant in power generation. In the next three years, the government plans to provide 30 lakh solar pumps to farmers, which will free them from electricity bills. Each year, 10 lakh electricity connections will be given, and efforts are being made to ensure farmers receive 24-hour electricity.

Solar Energy Payments for Farmers

Farmers will also receive cash payments for the electricity produced from solar energy. Additionally, the Chief Minister promised to buy wheat at Rs. 2,600 per quintal this year and Rs. 2,700 per quintal next year. He also announced that Rs. 4,000 per hectare would be given to paddy-producing farmers.
