Earthquake: An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck Morigaon in Assam at 2:25 AM today. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported that the epicenter was located in Morigaon.

In response to the shaking that occurred shortly after midnight, many residents exited their homes in alarm. Fortunately, there have been no reports of significant damage thus far. Mild tremors were also detected in Delhi and its neighboring regions, with residents in Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad noting the vibrations. However, these tremors were relatively weak, allowing most individuals to remain asleep without feeling the need to evacuate.
According to data from the NCS, the earthquake’s epicenter was situated in Morigaon, at a depth of 16 kilometers beneath the surface. The northeastern part of India is classified as an earthquake-sensitive Zone 5, where mild to moderate earthquakes frequently occur.
