Monsoon Heavy Rain Alert:- An alert has been issued in many coastal districts of Maharashtra regarding heavy rains from May 23, i.e. today. According to IMD, a low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea has formed, which can turn into a depression in the next 36 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for many areas of western India till next week, while severe waves continue to prevail in other parts of the country.
The Meteorological Department warned in its bulletin on Thursday afternoon that – “A low pressure area remains over the east-central Arabian Sea off South Konkan-Goa. It is likely to move northwards and intensify during the next 36 hours. However, no official warning of a cyclone has been issued yet. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for fishermen on the west coast of India in the next few days.
Red alert issued in many districts
According to the IMD, this system is formed near the South Konkan-Goa coast and it is expected to move northwards. Konkan and Goa may witness heavy rains between 22 and 24 May. A red alert has been issued here. Orange alert has been issued in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar. While red alert has been declared in Raigad and Ratnagiri.
Due to the pre-monsoon rain on Wednesday night, Mumbai’s roads are bad. According to the IMD, Mumbai received less than average rainfall this May. 700% more rainfall has been recorded. The temperature has also dropped due to the rain.
Warning for fishermen
IMD has warned fishermen on the west coast not to enter the sea. Dangerous conditions prevail over the Somali coast and the South-West Arabian Sea till May 27, and over the West-Central Arabian Sea on May 25-26.
According to the Meteorological Department, an alert has been issued regarding heavy rains in Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and the Konkan region in the next six to seven days. Heavy rains are also expected in coastal Karnataka on Saturday.
