Monsoon Forecast: The Makar Sankranti festival is being celebrated nationwide. Due to severe cold in several states during Makar Sankranti, an alert has been issued. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for six states due to a cold wave and dense fog. According to the Meteorological Department, Punjab, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh will be affected by the cold wave. While many states are experiencing biting cold, alerts have been issued in some due to heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, snowfall and frost are predicted in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. Ambala, Panchkula, and Chandigarh in Punjab may experience light fog along with a cold wave. Delhi Weather Forecast
A yellow alert has been issued in several districts of Delhi and the NCR due to the cold wave. Light fog is expected in several parts of Delhi today. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature 4 degrees Celsius. A cold wave is likely to blow at a speed of 5-10 kilometres per hour during the afternoon.
Heavy rain in 4 states
The IMD has issued an alert for light rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and the coastal areas of Maharashtra. The weather is expected to remain normal in the rest of South India.
Cold wave warning in these states
The Meteorological Department predicts a cold day in Uttarakhand on January 14th. A cold wave is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan on January 14th and 15th. A cold wave may occur in western Uttar Pradesh on January 14th, and in Jharkhand and Odisha between January 14th and 16th. According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is expected to persist in parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab until January 15th.
In addition, dense fog is expected to persist in parts of western Uttar Pradesh through the morning hours until January 19. The Meteorological Department forecasts a high probability of very dense fog in parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh during the morning hours from January 17 to 20. Dense fog is also expected in some areas of Jammu and Himachal Pradesh until January 16, in Uttarakhand until January 18, and in Bihar until January 17 during the morning hours.
Rainfall Warning for these states:
The Meteorological Department forecasts rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from January 16 to 19. Snowfall is also likely in these regions. Rain is expected across parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and western Uttar Pradesh on January 18 and 19. Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is possible in some parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Mahe on January 13.
