Chhath Puja 2025 – Sandhya Arghya Dos and Don’ts, Check City-wise Sunset Timings

Chhath Puja 2025 dos and don’ts: The Chhath Puja festival is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in many states across the country. On October 27th, an offering of water will be made to Lord Surya in the evening. This offering is a symbol of gratitude. Monday is the third day of Chhath Puja. This day is considered the most sacred in this puja, as it is the tradition to perform Sandhya Arghya, i.e., offering water to the setting sun. On this day, fasting women observe a waterless fast throughout the day and, in the evening, offer Arghya to the setting sun, seeking blessings from Suryadev and Chhathi Maiya.

It is believed that offering Arghya to the setting sun helps maintain balance and patience in the ups and downs of life. The 36-hour waterless fast for Chhath devotees began on Sunday after receiving the Kharna Prasad. Chhath Mata and Lord Surya will be worshipped during Chhath Puja. Therefore, several rules must be followed during Chhath Puja, and these five things should be avoided even by mistake during the evening Arghya. Let’s learn about it:

Chhath Puja 2025 dos and don’ts

On the third day of Chhath Puja, the fasting person should not eat food or drink even a drop of water from sunrise until sunrise the next day. Breaking the fast midway may make Chhathi Mata angry.

When preparing prasad or decorating the arghya bowl, if you are not fasting, do not touch it without washing your hands first. Avoid touching the prasad or puja materials with impure hands. Do not prepare the prasad without bathing.

During the fast, the fasting person should remain calm. Avoid cursing anyone, causing conflict, or fighting at home. It is believed that doing so will destroy the benefits of the fast.
