Bilaspur Train Accident: A massive collision between a Korba passenger train and a freight train occurred in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Six people are reported dead in the accident. Railway officials and staff have reportedly arrived at the scene. Rescue operations are currently underway. However, the exact cause of the accident remains unclear. A large crowd gathered at the scene. The impact was so severe that several coaches of the MEMU train derailed, causing widespread panic. According to preliminary reports, at least six passengers were killed in the accident, while dozens were seriously injured. Some of the injured are said to be in critical condition and were immediately rushed to the hospital.

According to emerging information, the incident occurred around 4 pm on Tuesday. Railway officials have deployed all resources to the scene and are taking all necessary measures to treat the injured. No official statement has yet been issued on the accident.

How did this tragic accident happen?

The accident occurred near Lalkhadan, just a few kilometres from Bilaspur station. According to eyewitnesses, the MEMU train was heading towards Howrah when it collided with a freight train coming from the opposite direction. The collision destroyed the front coach of the MEMU train. The derailed coaches transformed the surrounding area into a battlefield. Passengers screamed and cried out. Many passengers were trapped inside the coaches, and residents and railway personnel rescued them.

Rescue Operation Underway

Officials have arrived at the scene following the incident. Rescue operations are currently underway on a war footing. Medical units and divisional officers were dispatched immediately after the accident. Currently, train operations on this route have been suspended.
