Bihar election first phase high-profile seat: Voting for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections began at 7 am. Crowds of voters have been seen since morning amid tight security arrangements at polling stations. People are lining up at many polling booths to cast their votes. Voting is taking place in 121 assembly seats across 18 districts in the first phase. The fate of many leaders, including former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, is at stake. The most talked-about constituency in the first phase is the Raghopur assembly seat, where Tejashwi Yadav is contesting. The BJP has fielded Satish Kumar Yadav against him. A close contest is expected between the two candidates. The caste equations in this seat favour Tejashwi Yadav. Tejashwi Yadav won the last two elections in 2015 and 2020. The outcome this time will be determined only by the results on November 14th.

The Mokama Assembly seat, located just a kilometres from Patna, is also being discussed. The JDU has nominated strongman Anant Singh for this seat. The RJD has fielded Veena Deva, the wife of strongman Suraj Bhan, against him. The seat has become a hot topic after the murder of Jan Suraj Party supporter Dularchand Yadav during election campaigning in Mokama. JDU candidate Anant Singh has been jailed on murder charges.

Deputy CM’s credibility at stake in Tarapur

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary’s credibility is at stake in the Tarapur Assembly seat. He is facing RJD’s Arun Kumar. This seat has always been considered politically significant.

The Mahua assembly seat is also a hot topic. After being expelled from the RJD and his family, Tej Pratap Yadav has formed his own party and contested the election. Lalu Prasad Yadav has nominated Mukesh Kumar Yadav to contest against him. Tejashwi Yadav visited Mahua to appeal for the RJD candidate to win against his elder brother. He said that a party is more important than a family.
