Asaram Bail:- The Supreme Court has finally granted bail to Asaram Bapu in the 2013 rape case today i.e. Tuesday. Asaram has been granted bail till March 31. He has been granted this bail on medical grounds. However, he has not been allowed to meet supporters during this time. Along with this, the SC directed Asaram not to meet his followers after being released on interim bail.

The apex court has said that Asaram will not try to tamper with the evidence. The court noted that 86-year-old Asaram is suffering from age-related health problems apart from heart disease. Asaram had appealed to the apex court against the life imprisonment sentence given by the Gandhinagar Court in 2023.

The Supreme Courd also sought a response from the Gujarat government on this. The court said it would investigate the matter only on medical grounds.

Life imprisonment in a rape case

In January 2023, the sessions court convicted Asaram Bapu in the 2013 rape case. The case was filed by a woman staying at his ashram near Gandhinagar at the time of the crime. Earlier, the Supreme Court sought a response from the Gujarat government regarding Asaram’s plea in jail.

He is currently lodged in Jodhpur jail in Rajasthan in another rape case. Asaram’s son Narayan Sai is also serving a jail sentence in a sexual abuse case.
