New Delhi: Amidst the general elections in Bangladesh, minorities are being targeted. The continuous killings of members of the Hindu community have raised serious questions about the country’s democratic system. A brutal attack has claimed the life of another Hindu man.

Khokan Chandra Das, who ran a medicine and mobile banking business in his village about 150 kilometres from the capital Dhaka, was attacked by Islamic militants on Wednesday night. The attackers used sharp weapons and attempted to burn him alive.

Khokan Chandra Das’s family said that he was returning home after closing his shop on Wednesday night when he was attacked. Severely burned in the attack, Khokan Das somehow managed to jump into a nearby pond, which extinguished the flames, but his face and head were severely burned. His family admitted him to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The attackers are currently at large.
