How did the accident happen?
According to the District Collector, 35 passengers, two drivers, and a cleaner were on board the bus at the time of the accident. An official said the accident occurred at a sharp turn in the densely forested Ghat section. It is reported that, due to heavy fog at the scene, the driver was unable to see the turn and the bus skidded off the road and fell into the ravine. The bus was travelling from Chittoor to the Sri Rama Temple in Bhadrachalam, Telangana.

Rescue operations were launched immediately after the accident. The collector stated, “Nine people have died. Seven injured have been shifted to CHT Chintoor, 15 kilometres from the accident site. They will be taken to Bhadrachalam once their condition stabilises.”
