GATE 2027: Important news has emerged for candidates preparing for GATE 2027. Today, October 5, is the last day to apply. IIT Madras has extended the deadline for GATE 2027 applications to October 5 (without a late fee). Candidates who have not yet registered should do so today to avoid the late fee. Please note that applications with a late fee will be accepted until October 12, 2026.

The initial deadline for GATE 2027 registration was set for September 27, 2026. Candidates who have not yet filled out the form should apply soon.

What has changed in GATE 2027?
GATE 2027 is being organised by IIT Madras. A new test paper has been added to the exam this time: Robotics and Automation (RA) has been included in the GATE papers for the first time. Additionally, textile engineering and fibre science have been classified as engineering papers.

Who can apply for GATE 2027?
Students currently in the third or final year of a degree programme at a recognised institution can apply for GATE 2027. Furthermore, candidates who have completed a valid degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, or humanities are also eligible to take the exam.

How to register for GATE 2027?

Visit the official GATE 2027 website at gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
Open the application portal and register.
Fill in the required information and upload the necessary documents.
Pay the application fee.
Double-check all details before submitting the form.

The use of DigiLocker is mandatory in the application process for Indian candidates. Please do not delete the DigiLocker account used to fill out the GATE application form after completing the application and fee payment processes.

Until when will the correction window remain open?

After the application process concludes, candidates will be provided another opportunity to make specific changes to their forms. The GATE 2027 application correction window will remain open from October 14 to October 21. During this period, permitted corrections can be made to specific details. The GATE 2027 examination will be conducted in multiple phases; it is scheduled to be held on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027.

Which documents will be required?

A live photograph of the candidate will be captured during the application process. Candidates must keep the following ready in the prescribed formats: photographs, signatures, identity documents, and category-specific certificates (such as PwD certificates, if applicable). SC and ST candidates will be required to upload their respective certificates. Candidates must carry the same original identity document to the examination centre that was used for verification during the application process.
