GATE 2027: Important news has emerged for students preparing for the GATE exam. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras will conduct the GATE 2027 exam, and September 27 is the last day to apply. Students who have not yet been able to fill out the form for any reason should do so today to avoid paying a late fee. Applications can be submitted online via the official IIT Madras website: gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
A late fee is applicable now.
Students who fail to apply by today will be required to pay a late fee starting tomorrow. Registration with a late fee will be available until October 5.
Eligibility and criteria
To apply for the GATE exam, students must be currently studying in the third year or higher of a graduate degree programme; alternatively, those who have already obtained a degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, or humanities are also eligible to participate.
GATE 2027 Application Fee:
Female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates: ₹1,000 per paper within the scheduled period (by September 27).
All other candidates (General, OBC, EWS):** ₹2,000 per paper within the scheduled period.
With the late fee (September 28 to October 5): The reserved category and female candidates must pay ₹1,500 per paper, while general/OBC category candidates must pay ₹2,500 per paper.
Choosing two papers:** Candidates selecting two test papers must pay the fee for each paper separately.
How to apply online for GATE 2027?
Visit the official GATE 2027 portal at gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
Click on the ‘GOAPS Registration Link’ provided on the homepage. Create a new account by entering your email ID and mobile number.
Log in to the portal and upload details regarding your educational qualifications, along with your photograph, signature, and valid ID proof.
Select the exam paper and your three preferred exam cities.
Pay the prescribed fee online before September 27.
GATE candidates can register using an unverified DigiLocker account. They can select it as the default ID proof while filling out the application. However, after the registration deadline has passed, the applications of these candidates will be scrutinised for the necessary documents.
