Samsung Galaxy G Fold: Samsung is once again taking the tech world by storm, but this time without making any major announcements. Recently a report by Android Authority caught everyone’s attention as it was reported that some animation files were found inside Samsung’s new software update One UI 8 that showed a new and different way of folding a phone. This device doesn’t look like any of Samsung’s existing foldable phones and that’s why people are assuming that this could be Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone.

Complete G-Shape Fold Design

The design of this new phone is quite unique, and as per reports, the device folds in a “G” shape – meaning two separate hinges that fold inwards on both sides. In the animations, the phone is seen to be divided into three parts – on one side is the camera module, in the middle is the display and selfie camera, and the third part looks blank, which is probably just to complete the fold.

Samsung’s tri-fold design is quite different from Huawei’s foldable phone. Huawei’s S-shape folds both outward and inward, while Samsung’s new design folds inwards from both sides. This design reminds us of Samsung’s first prototype “Flex G” which was shown some time back in an event of display technology.

Many details of the design hidden in the animation

The animation files found in the software clearly show that there is a triple camera module on the left side of the phone. There is a large external display in the middle in which a selfie camera is also visible. The panel on the right side appears empty, whose function may be just to close the fold, not to show the display. And interestingly, one of the animation files carries a warning to not fold the camera-side panel first – this is an indication that the folding sequence is very specific and folding incorrectly can damage the phone.

In some dark theme animations, the symmetry of the hinges looks a little odd – maybe this size difference is intentional, so that there is less tension on the screen while folding and durability is maintained. This shows how much detail Samsung is putting in the hardware design.

“Multifold 7” or “Galaxy G Fold”?

Now the biggest question is what will this phone be called? Currently, the internal name of this phone in the software is “Multifold 7”, which may be a code name. But according to leaks, when this device is officially launched, it may be named Samsung Galaxy G Fold. Samsung has not yet given any official confirmation about this phone, but a small teaser was shown in the previous Unpacked event where this type of foldable concept was mentioned.

Is Samsung’s third foldable near launch?

Samsung’s next big smartphone launch event is also just around the corner, where phones like Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 and Flip FE are likely to be launched. But now that these new animations have surfaced in One UI 8, the speculation in the tech world has intensified whether Samsung will also show this tri-fold phone in the same event or will it keep it hidden this time too?

Even if Samsung does not say anything about this phone yet, but this leak definitely tells that making a multi-foldable phone is not just a concept but is now becoming a solid reality. And this is exciting news for fans, because when Samsung does something big – it is usually game-changing.

So that’s it, now everyone is waiting for the Samsung event in July – to see whether this Galaxy G Fold officially comes into the spotlight or Samsung brings some more surprises!
