New Delhi: A tense situation persists in the Middle East due to the ongoing conflict involving the United States,Israel, and Iran. Consequently, the situation continues to deteriorate. Several nations are also facing a looming crisis regarding the supply of crude oil and natural gas. The impact of this conflict is now directly affecting the pockets of ordinary citizens.
Amidst rising global crude oil prices,state-run oil companies have announced a steep hike of ₹195.50 in the price of commercial LPG cylinders. These new rates, effective from April 1st—i.e.,today—have heightened concerns among restaurant and hotel operators. Consequently, dining out at hotels, restaurants, and *dhabas* (roadside eateries) is likely to become more expensive—an outcome widely expected to impact the general public.

Gas Cylinder Prices Following the Hike
Indian petroleum companies have raised the prices of commercial gas cylinders by ₹195.50,thereby impacting consumers’ budgets. In the national capital,Delhi, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder has risen to ₹2,078.50. Previously, the price of a cylinder here stood at ₹1,884.50.
In Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal,a 19-kilogram cylinder now costs ₹2,208. In the country’s financial capital,Mumbai, the price has reached ₹2,031. In Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, the price for this cylinder has risen to ₹2,246.50. In Patna, the capital of Bihar, the rate for a commercial LPG cylinder has been set at ₹2,365. In Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, the price has reached ₹2,031.

No Change in Domestic Cylinder Prices
While commercial gas cylinders saw a price hike on the very first day of the new financial year, there has been no change whatsoever in the prices of domestic cylinders. Although there were expectations that domestic cylinder prices might rise, stability was maintained, keeping the common person’s budget in mind.
The last price hike for domestic cooking gas cylinders occurred on March 7th,when the price of a 14.2-kilogram cylinder was raised by ₹60; prices currently remain unchanged since that adjustment. In Delhi, the price of a 14.2-kilogram cylinder is currently recorded at ₹913.
Prices Revised on the First of Every Month
For your information,state-run oil companies—such as Indian Oil Corporation,Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum—revise the prices of ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel) and LPG on the first of every month, based on global benchmarks and exchange rates. Global oil prices have surged by approximately 50 per cent following disruptions to the energy supply chain caused by the conflict in the Middle East.
