Moto G96: Motorola is all set to make the budget smartphone market rumble once more, with rumors of its latest model, the Moto G96, already making buzz. The phone has been rumored to overshadow the now-anticipated previous Moto G86, which itself was being rumored to dominate the company’s mid-budget category this year.

Emerging Trends for Motorola’s G Series
Following all the recent hype surrounding the Edge 60 and Razr 60 phones, Motorola’s G series has found renewed attention. The Moto G86 was already set to come out in June 2025, succeeding the Moto G85. But a new leak by tipster @evleaks has now shifted the focus to the Moto G96, which will ultimately be the most power-packed phone in the G family before that.
Spec Sheet Still a Secret
Nothing is yet known about Moto G96 internals, there being no leaked official specs or design pictures as of this moment. Industry speculations exist, though, that point towards it possibly opting for high-end hardware, practically catching up with Motorola’s top-tier Edge 60. Even speculated to come with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip. If that happens, it would represent quite a departure from the G86, one that would hopefully bring with it a 6.7-inch AMOLED display as well as a 50MP primary camera.
Global Release Uncertainty
One big question mark is whether or not the Moto G96 will appear in the U.S. market. Motorola has not launched a G-series numbered model in the U.S. since the G100 was launched in 2021, so a domestic launch does not seem likely. Still, the phone will be a bestseller in markets where the G series still performs.
Moto G85 Still a Valid Competitor
The Moto G85, though under the shadow of new model release news, is nonetheless a capable mid-range phone. It features a curved 6.67-inch P-OLED screen, Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, and dual rear camera with a 50MP main sensor. Paired with a 5000mAh battery and 30W fast charging, it is a great choice for budget-conscious consumers.
Likely Future High-End Features
Rumors are abuzz that the Moto G96 could come loaded with flagship-level features like a 200MP main camera or 100W fast charging, all of which would propel its popularity in a saturated space. Although nothing can be confirmed as of now, hype is building for a late 2025 or early 2026 launch.
Game-Changer or Yet Another Addition?
Until Motorola officially launches the Moto G96, it’s difficult to say whether this phone will disrupt its segment or just provide incremental gains. Either way, the hype it has created is genuine, and brand fanatics will be waiting eagerly.
