IRCTC Uses AI to Block Over 2 Crore Suspicious Accounts

Indian Railways (IRCTC) has suspended more than 2 crore doubtful accounts with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). Besides, over 20 lakh accounts remain under scrutiny. To deal with the issue, IRCTC created a specific AI-based system that detected and disabled more than 2.4 crore such accounts in the last six months. Approximately 20 lakh more accounts are being questioned, with continuous Aadhaar and ID verification.

To make Tatkal tickets more accessible and transparent, IRCTC now favors Aadhaar-linked users for the first 10 minutes of Tatkal booking. Authorized agents are also barred from booking tickets for this time. This makes Aadhaar verification even more important for frequent travelers.
