Reported to The Information, Apple is developing a new compact smartphone for the coming iPhone Air. According to reports, this phone, which is called the iPhone Air 2, would have an additional camera to supplement the 48-megapixel sensor in the original model.
According to reports, the iPhone Air 2 will also launch at lower prices. The current price of the iPhone Air is ₹1,19,900 in India and $999 in the US. Customers may find the new phone even more appealing if a second lens is added and the cost is reduced.
The report says that Apple terminated trial production of the second-generation iPhone Air, which was initially scheduled for a fall 2026 launch, last month, citing anonymous people working on the device at Apple and its suppliers. Initially slated to come alongside the Pro and a new foldable variant was the iPhone Air 2, internally designated V62. The company now plans to deploy this model in the spring of 2027.
Apple updated the iPhone Air 2 in response to the first iPhone Air’s allegedly low sales. This model’s trial production, headed by Luxshare in Kunshan, China, may start up again in March. Also, at least eight additional iPhones are allegedly being developed by Apple and are expected to be created between 2026 and 2027.
In the past, analysts asserted that the iPhone Air was the model in the iPhone 17 series with the lowest performance. This phone has a 6.5-inch display with ProMotion technology and is powered by Apple’s A19 Pro CPU. It features an 18-megapixel front-facing camera and is 5.6 mm thick. It has a 3,149mAh battery.
