Reactivate Aadhaar Card: In today’s digital India, Aadhaar card has become the most important part of our identity. From bank to mobile SIM, from school admission to government schemes – it is required everywhere. In such a situation, if your Aadhaar number gets deactivated for any reason, then it is natural to worry. But now there is no need to fear because UIDAI itself has clarified that if Aadhaar is accidentally deactivated, then it can be activated again.
UIDAI i.e. Unique Identification Authority of India has issued a new circular on 7 July 2025, which explains how Aadhaar card can be accidentally deactivated and how it can be activated again.
How does Aadhaar get deactivated?
Many times the information about the death of a person is updated incorrectly in the records of the Birth & Death Registration Department. If this information matches the Aadhaar database, then UIDAI assumes that the person concerned is no longer alive and deactivates his Aadhaar number.
But if you are alive and this has happened only due to a record error, then UIDAI re-verifies your identity and re-activates your Aadhaar.
How to reactivate Aadhaar?
For this, first the Aadhaar number holder has to submit an application, which he can submit by going to the nearest regional or state office of UIDAI. If desired, the application can also be sent through post or email.
After receiving the application, UIDAI will call the Aadhaar holder to a special Aadhaar center within two weeks. There you will have to give your biometric information again – face, eye scanning (iris) and fingerprints.
Within 30 days of this, you will get information through SMS or myAadhaar portal whether your Aadhaar has been re-activated or not.
If it is proved that the reporting of your death was done by mistake, then UIDAI immediately activates the Aadhaar number and also sends its information to the concerned departments.
So if your Aadhaar has been accidentally deactivated, don’t panic – you can activate it again by completing this process.
