Honor 400 Series: Honor is set to release its next-generation smartphone on the market — Honor 400 and Honor 400 Pro, with major hardware improvements. The official teasers have now finally confirmed the global launch schedule along with main specs, specifically highlighting changes in the battery life, camera features, and the chipset.

launch date of Honor 400 and Honor 400 Pro

Honor has announced that the global unveiling for the Honor 400 series will happen on May 22. For China, the launch event will be held on May 28 at 7:30pm local time (5:00pm IST). Both phones are set to debut with new designs, improved internals, and improved longevity over the earlier Honor 300 series.

Battery and Charging Upgrades

The global versions of the Honor 400 and 400 Pro include bigger batteries compared to previous models. Although Chinese versions will include an enormous 7,200mAh battery, the global versions pack a 6,000mAh battery. The Honor 400 Pro has 100W wired and 50W wireless charging capabilities, while the regular Honor 400 has 80W wired charging. These are significant upgrades from the 5,300mAh batteries in last year’s devices.

Chipset and Performance

Both phones in the Honor 400 series will be driven by Snapdragon chipsets. The plain Honor 400 is set to come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. On its side, the Honor 400 Pro is teased with a “new generation” of Snapdragon flagship chip, which is expected to be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. On global markets, though, the SoC combinations are just the other way around — Honor 400 Pro will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the entry model will receive the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip.

Camera Features

One of the selling points of the Honor 400 series is the camera. Both phones come with 200-megapixel primary rear sensors. The Honor 400 Pro comes with a triple camera system including a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. It also has a 50-megapixel selfie camera. The Honor 400, on the other hand, comes with a dual-camera system at the rear including a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens in addition to the 200-megapixel primary sensor and a 50-megapixel selfie camera.

Design and Build Quality

The Honor 400 series boasts a metal center frame and is available in several colors. The Pro model will support a color palette of Lunar Grey, Midnight Black, and Tidal Blue, while the base model will support Desert Gold, Midnight Black, and Meteor Silver. From a durability perspective, the Honor 400 Pro boasts IP68 and IP69 ratings, whereas the Honor 400 has an IP66 rating, providing decent dust and water resistance.

Display Specifications

Honor 400 and 400 Pro are both listed with premium displays that provide 5,000-nit peak brightness, 1,280×2,800 resolution, 460ppi pixel density, and a 120Hz refresh rate. They are meant to give an enhanced and smooth display experience for general consumers and gamers.
