Pixel 10 accessories: Google is seemingly poised to take part in the Qi2 revolution with its Pixel 10 series, likely to be the second Android brand to support full Qi2 wireless charging with magnets. This feature, if true, will add the Pixel series closer to Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem, turning the Pixel 10 into not only a flagship device but a future-proofed wireless charging center.

Leaked Docs Confirm Qi2.2 Magnetic Charging on Pixel 10

As per a report by Android Authority, from leaked marketing documents, both the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro will be compatible with the new Qi2.2 standard, including magnetic alignment of accessories. Adding magnets is not necessary in Qi2, but Google is taking the extra step as Apple did in 2020 with MagSafe on the iPhone 12. This would make it simple for Pixel 10 phones to click onto compatible chargers and mounts without messing around.

New “Pixelsnap” Accessory Lineup Incoming

To capitalize on the new charging standard, Google is said to be launching a new “Pixelsnap” line of magnetic accessories. Three will be released in the first batch: Pixelsnap Charger, Pixelsnap Charger with Stand, and Pixelsnap Ring Stand. These accessories may turn wireless charging on Pixel phones more practical and useful, particularly when used on a desk or during video calls.

High-Speed Wireless Charging with CPS4041 Chip

Internally, the Pixel 10 range will employ the ConvenientPower CPS4041 chip to deliver up to 60W wireless charging under the Magnetic Power Profile (MPP). Although these speeds sound impressive, Google might apply software caps to counteract heat generation and energy consumption. Nevertheless, this is a significant jump from the modest wireless speeds of earlier Pixel series.

New Charging Features Inspired by Apple StandBy Mode

Gossip also points to a “Hub Mode” feature that can be added with Pixel 10, where it is possible to convert the device into a smart display when it is docked on the Pixelsnap Charger with Stand. This would work much like Apple’s StandBy Mode, turning standby phones into clocks, photo frames, or smart assistants. If implemented, this feature would make the Pixel 10 more usable on a nightstand or desk, aside from when in use.

Color Options and Launch Hints

Pixelsnap Charger is reportedly coming in two colors: “Rock Candy” (black) and “Mist” (white), both of which have been found on trade listings. Although Google has not officially announced the accessories or charging requirements so far, the increasing number of leaks means that a launch may be imminent. With Qi2, Google is finally going to mean business with wireless charging come 2025.
