Comparing cameras: Both the Realme 14 Pro+ (review) and the Motorola Edge 60 Pro (review) are popular smartphones that cost under Rs 30,000 and have good camera hardware. They appear to be a close match, at least on paper. However, specs do not often tell the whole picture, so we tested the cameras on both phones in real-world situations to determine which one performs better.

Key elements including skin tones, texture, sharpness, detail retention, and color accuracy—or how similar the colors are to the real scene—form the basis of our study. These components enable us to fairly and impartially assess the overall quality of the photos.

Daylight

The vivid daytime image captured by the Realme 14 Pro+ features striking reds, greens, and yellows that pop throughout the frame. In contrast, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro enhances contrast and shadows, giving the picture a more dramatic look. The Realme 14 Pro+ slightly outperforms the Edge 60 Pro in terms of detail, particularly in the sky where cloud textures are easily discernible.

Ultrawide

When it comes to ultrawide photos, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro performs far better than the Realme 14 Pro+. Realme tends to oversaturate, making objects appear softer upon closer examination. Compared to the Realme 14 Pro+’s softer image, the Edge 60 Pro’s 50MP high-resolution lens captures sharper, more detailed photos.

Portrait

Compared to the Motorola Edge 60 Pro, the Realme 14 Pro+ performs better at edge recognition, but it falls short in terms of detail. Skin tones appear slightly brightened, hair texture is not particularly clear, and facial features appear somewhat soft. In this comparison, the Edge 60 Pro is the more dependable choice for portrait photography since it provides a better balance overall.

Selfie

For a few reasons, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro takes better selfies than the Realme 14 Pro+. While the Realme smartphone has better color balance than its competitor, it lacks the ability to record face details and smoothes out the texture of the skin, and its HDR optimization falls short of that of the Motorola Edge 60 Pro.

Low light (night mode)

Since the Edge 60 Pro automatically switches to a low exposure shot in low light, we decided to keep things fair by turning on night mode on both phones. Initially, we tested both phones without night mode.

Bright nighttime images are produced with the Realme 14 Pro+, but detail is sacrificed in the process. When zoomed in, it displays pronounced noise and produces the softest image of the three. However, when it comes to controlling ambient illumination, it excels. Nevertheless, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro has an edge because to its superior lighting management, color accuracy, and detail balancing.

The final decision

When comparing the Realme 14 Pro+ to the Motorola Edge 60 Pro, the latter is the more feature-rich camera phone. Overall, it is the more dependable option because it continuously produces sharper portraits, better ultrawide images, and more balanced low-light performance.

There are advantages to the Realme 14 Pro+ as well. It provides vivid daylight photos, good color balance for selfies and portraits, and good nighttime ambient lighting management. The Edge 60 Pro seems to be a better option if you are looking for a good camera phone that costs less than Rs 30,000 and produces consistent images in all camera modes.
