Apple’s First Foldable iPhone: Apple fans have waited for many years for the company to enter the foldable phone market. Now new leaks and reports have made it clear that this big moment will come in 2026, along with the iPhone 18 lineup. Trusted sources like Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and popular tipsters have shared some explosive details, which suggests that Apple’s foldable phone will not be just a copy-paste, but will offer a different level of experience.
Launch Timeline
According to the leaks, Apple will launch its foldable iPhone in September 2026, exactly along with the iPhone 18 series. This timeline suits because Apple always takes its sweet time before entering a new category. It is not their style to compromise by entering the market quickly. Instead, they plan a perfect entry by polishing the design, durability and software.
Four-Camera Setup
The biggest highlight of this foldable will be its four-camera setup. Unlike normal iPhones, it will have cameras in multiple places – one on the outer cover display, one on the inner folding screen and a dual camera system at the back. The exact specs are not confirmed yet, but some leaks are saying that there will be two powerful 48MP sensors on the rear side. Meaning despite being foldable, the camera performance is going to be top-class.
eSIM-Only iPhone robably be the first globally eSIM-only iPhone. Meaning now there will be no physical SIM card slot. Apple already took this step in the US with the iPhone 14, now it plans to do it worldwide. It is a bold move, but normal for Apple – they like to push the future.
Book-Style Fold
In terms of design, leaks suggest that this iPhone will be a book-style fold, just like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. Meaning as soon as the phone is opened, a large tablet-like display will come in front. It will be perfect for entertainment, gaming and multitasking without carrying a separate tablet.
Crease-Free Display
The biggest problem with foldables is the crease in the middle. But Apple has probably found a solution for this as well. Leaks say that they are using a new in-cell touchscreen technology and liquid metal hinge, which will distribute the stress and make the crease almost invisible. If this is true, then the game of foldable phones in the market will change.
Touch ID returns
Another interesting rumor is that this foldable iPhone will not have Face ID. Instead, Apple will integrate Touch ID into the power button. The reason is simple – Face ID sensors take up more space, and Apple wants to keep its foldable slim and stylish. Honestly, for many users the comeback of Touch ID will be a nostalgic and practical change.
New Apple Modem
Apple has also made its own plan for connectivity. This phone will have Apple’s own second-gen in-house modem (C2). This modem will be faster, more stable and more efficient as compared to current chips. Meaning Qualcomm dependency will be less, and Apple will be able to give its users a more smooth experience.
Expected Price
Now the question come to the price. Leaks say that the base model of the foldable iPhone will be around $1,999, which costs around ₹1,74,000 in India. Meaning it will directly compete with Samsung’s top foldable and luxury smartphones.
