Free Gas Cylinder Yojana: During this period of rising costs, the Yogi administration in Uttar Pradesh is stepping up to support families during the festive celebrations by offering complimentary gas cylinders to those enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). This generous initiative will benefit roughly 1.86 crore households across Uttar Pradesh, providing them with complete subsidies for two free LPG cylinder refills annually—one during Diwali and another during Holi. When you refill your LPG cylinder between October and December 2026 for Diwali, the subsidy amount will be transferred straight into your bank account.
Free Gas Cylinder from the Government
With inflation climbing and cooking gas costs soaring, many low-income families have struggled to afford regular gas cylinder refills. Even though they had gas connections, numerous beneficiaries found themselves turning back to conventional cooking methods and firewood. To tackle this challenge and enhance the festive spirit, the state cabinet has approved a program offering two complimentary cylinders annually to Ujjwala Yojana participants. The first free refill will be available from October through December 2026 during Diwali festivities, while the second will be offered from January through March 2027 during Holi celebrations.
Who Can Take Advantage of This Program?
This benefit is exclusively for those who have registered with the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PM-Ujjwala Yojana). Standard domestic gas connections don’t qualify for this offer. To enjoy these benefits, you’ll need to complete Aadhaar verification and finish the full eKYC process for your gas connection. Additionally, your bank account must be connected to your Aadhaar number and have DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) activated, allowing the subsidy to be deposited directly into your account.
How to avail free LPG cylinder?
On Diwali i.e. during October to December 2026, you will have to book the cylinder as per normal rules from your respective gas agency like Indane, Bharat Gas or HP and pay the full price at the time of taking delivery.Within a few days of paying the cylinder amount, the entire subsidy amount will be transferred by the government to the consumer’s Aadhaar linked bank account.If you have not done your eKYC yet, then immediately visit your nearest gas agency or complete the biometric authentication through the mobile app of the concerned gas company.
