EPFO Interest: Good news for EPFO members. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is set to transfer the Provident Fund (PF) interest funds into members’ accounts this month. On Wednesday, July 8, Manpower Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced that the EPFO is in the final stages of crediting interest to PF accounts for the financial year 2025-26. Members will be able to check their updated balances online by July 15.
Mandaviya informed the press that access to provident fund accounts is now online following the rollout of Centralized IT-based Services (CITES) 2.01 at the EPFO. The CITES initiative aims to enhance convenience, streamline EPFO operations, and offer transparent services to members.
Approximately 34 million members will have their accounts credited with interest, totaling over Rs 1.44 lakh crore at an interest rate of 8.25% for the fiscal year 2025-26. Regional officers will validate the amounts before crediting them to members’ accounts. Details of the interest credited will be visible in members’ passbooks by July 15.
It is important to note that last month, the government approved an 8.25% interest rate on EPF accounts. Mandaviya mentioned that previously, interest payments were processed in October-November after government approval. He highlighted the transition from a decentralized EPFO system, where each regional office maintained separate databases, to a unified database under CITES.

Facility will be available like banking
Under the new system, members will now be able to access services from any authorized center in the country. This system will be similar to banking services, where customers do not need to visit a specific branch. He said that members will now have access to their details, PF balance, claim status, pensionable service record, and benefits received, on a unified digital platform. This will make information related to their PF accounts and claims more transparent.
How to check PF balance through missed call?
EPFO has launched an official missed call service for account holders. Employees can access their PF account information by giving a missed call to 9966044425 from their registered mobile number. After the missed call, the call automatically disconnects, and within a few seconds, a message is received on the employee’s mobile phone. This message provides important information regarding the total balance in the account and the latest contributions.
Information is also available through SMS
In addition to the missed call service, EPFO has also provided an SMS facility. To do this, employees need to send a message from their registered mobile number by typing “EPFOHO UAN” to 7738299899. If an employee wishes to receive information in Hindi, they must send the message “EPFOHO UAN HIN.” Similarly, different language codes can be used for other languages.
