EPFO: Is your pension or that of another pensioner in your household suddenly not coming through? If that’s the case, this information is meant for you. The EPFO has rolled out an important update about Digital Life Certificates that will be really helpful for pensioners everywhere. Let us walk you through what this new EPFO update entails.

Why does Pension stop?

Pensioners often experience unexpected interruptions in their pension payments. The primary culprit behind this is missing the deadline to file their Digital Life Certificate (DLC). To keep your pension flowing into your account smoothly, submitting your Life Certificate annually and on time is crucial. This certificate remains valid for twelve months from when you submit it.

What did EPFO announce?

EPFO shared on its X social media account that you won’t need to stress about getting your DLC submitted anymore. You can now conveniently submit your life certificate from home using just your phone. Here’s the good news: EPFO has partnered with India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) to offer a Doorstep facility at no cost. All you need to do is ring the toll-free number 023202900, and IPPB’s postal team will visit your home to help you submit your DLC.

UMANG app will also help:

If you’d rather skip the IPPB service, you have another option—submit your DLC from home through the Umang app:

Get the Umang App and Aadhaar Face RD App installed on your device.
Navigate to the Life Certificate section within the Umang app and tap Generate Life Certificate.
Choose face authentication, then provide your Aadhaar number and phone number.
You’ll receive an OTP—enter it when it arrives.
Input your PPO number, the sanctioning authority, your bank details, and account number.
Make your selections for Re-employed and Re-married status and check the box.
Give the Aadhaar Face RD app permission to access your camera, which will scan your face.
Once complete, your DLC will be submitted!

Check the status like this:

After submitting your DLC, you’ll get a text message on your registered phone number with a proof ID included.
