EPFO Update: For employed individuals looking to make a withdrawal, settle a claim, or check their PF balance, there’s important information to consider. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has temporarily halted online claim services on its website. Furthermore, PF services on the EPFO portal and the government’s Umang app will be unavailable for a few days. This pause may impact numerous PF subscribers. Details on the downtime and when services will resume are as follows:

EPFO portal: Claim services suspended for 3 days

As per an official announcement by the EPFO, a migration process is underway to enhance software applications and database systems. Online claim submission and processing services will be inaccessible from 00:00 on June 26th until 23:59 on June 28th. Normal operations on the PF portal will resume from 00:00 on June 29th. During this maintenance window, members won’t be able to file new online claims or have existing claims processed. Claims submitted before the suspension will be handled once services are back online.

Umang app services also paused until July 2

Apart from the portal, the EPFO has indicated in a separate notice that PF-related services on the ‘Umang’ government app will be on hold until July 2, 2026. Due to this extended pause on the Umang app, users won’t be able to access the following services for the next few days:

– Checking PF balance

– Initiating new claims and tracking claim status

– UAN-related services

– Lodging complaints

– Applying for Scheme Certificate and Life Certificate

Reason behind the decision

The EPFO’s technology upgrade and database consolidation aim to enhance the security, speed, and efficiency of its digital services. This enhancement will bolster the claims processing system, leading to quicker claim settlements and an improved user experience in the future. If you have urgent PF-related tasks, kindly wait until June 29 for the EPFO portal and until July 2 for the Umang app.

EPFO Update

Why is this upgrade being done?

According to EPFO, the aim of database integration and software upgradation is to make the organisation’s digital services faster, secure and reliable than before. Once the new system is implemented, data management will be more efficient, cyber security will be improved and members will have a more seamless experience of online services in the future. Technical experts also agree that periodic upgrades to digital systems of this scale are necessary. This increases server capacity, allows for better data management, and reduces the likelihood of future technical disruptions.
