EPFO 3.0 Update:- Big news is coming out for the employed. Employees will now be able to withdraw money from their EPF accounts through ATM and UPI. EPFO is gearing up to launch the big digital upgrade ‘EPFO 3.0’ for its members. This means that people with PF accounts will now be able to withdraw their money through UPI and ATMs.
According to sources, the new system will be implemented from the first week of July 2026, with the initial phase in some metro cities. First, the new system is expected to be rolled out by the end of June. EPFO has not yet announced a separate withdrawal limit for UPI or ATM transactions, but this system will operate only under the existing rules.
What’s the new feature?
Under the new system, it will be much easier to withdraw PF money. Employees will be able to transfer directly from their PF account to a linked bank account instantly.
How will the system work?
There are also some necessary conditions to avail this facility. Like, a PF account must be linked to a bank account; it will be mandatory to have Aadhaar, PAN, and a mobile number linked to it with UPI. In addition, account holders will receive UAN-based ATM cards, which will allow them to withdraw funds from ATMs.
Can withdraw up to 75%
Under the existing rules, eligible account holders can withdraw up to 75% of their PF balance via UPI or UPI-enabled ATMs, as per their withdrawal needs and eligibility. This will provide financial assistance during emergencies.
EPFO portal upgraded, services affected
EPFO has upgraded its portal. The website will remain closed till 12 pm on June 28 due to this. During this period, the PF withdrawal claim process will be affected, e-passbook services will be disrupted, and ECR filing and UAN linking services will remain closed. The portal will resume the new version on June 29, after which all online services will return to normal.

What will be the benefits?
This initiative will make the PF withdrawal process faster, easier and digital. Lengthy paperwork and waiting will be eliminated, allowing employees to get money quickly.
These members will get this facility
The MEMBER’s UAN must be active and linked to Aadhaar.
PAN details should be fully updated.
The bank account with the correct IFSC code should be verified.
The mobile number must be registered for OTP-based authentication.
PF-linked ATM cards will also be available
EPFO is also likely to launch PF-linked ATM cards. This will allow account holders to withdraw their eligible amount directly from an ATM like a normal debit card. According to media reports, members may be required to maintain at least 25% of their EPF balance in the account, so that retirement savings are not completely depleted.
