EPFO PF ATM Withdrawal Updates: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is preparing to introduce a major facility for its more than 30 crore account holders. In the near future, PF account holders will be able to withdraw money directly from their PF accounts using an ATM card. The EPFO is gearing up to roll out the ‘EPFO 3.0’ platform as part of an upgrade to its digital infrastructure.
The government’s initiative aims to create a faster, more transparent, and paperless system, making it significantly easier for individuals to access PF-related services. Currently, it takes about 15 days to withdraw PF funds; however, with EPFO 3.0, subscribers will be able to withdraw their PF money easily via UPI or an ATM. But the question remains: has a launch date for EPFO 3.0 been set? Let’s look at the latest updates on the matter.
What is the launch date for EPFO 3.0?
A specific launch date for EPFO 3.0 has not yet been fixed. However, according to official confirmation, the EPFO has completed testing the new system. Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya recently stated that the government would make an announcement regarding its implementation very soon. That said, no official launch date has been announced yet.
What are the key features of EPFO 3.0?
One of the most significant features of EPFO 3.0 is that it will allow for the transfer of PF funds directly into Aadhaar-linked and bank-seeded accounts via UPI or ATM-enabled channels. This move will reduce paperwork, minimise delays, and enhance transparency overall. Eligible subscribers will be able to withdraw between 50% and 75% of their EPF balance, subject to certain conditions. How much can be withdrawn?
Limit: A daily limit will be set for ATM withdrawals from a PF account, restricted to the amount permissible under eligible ‘advances.’
25% Balance Mandatory: Under the EPFO’s revised rules, account holders must ensure that at least 25% of their total PF balance remains untouched to safeguard their future retirement security. Until the EPFO makes an official announcement, we cannot consider the launch date final.
