Electricity Rate Cut: The electricity rates in Haryana have been updated, with certain consumers now only paying 10 paise per unit. Other consumer categories have also seen reductions in electricity rates. The main question is who will benefit from these reduced rates – will it extend to regular households or only to specific projects?
Electricity Rate Cut in Haryana
In addition to the electricity rate changes, the government has introduced schemes worth crores to improve fisheries-related facilities, such as constructing new fish markets and establishing modern processing units. Let’s delve into the specifics of this government decision and identify the direct beneficiaries.
The Haryana government has introduced a discounted electricity rate of 10 paise per unit for consumers drawing power from agricultural feeders, benefiting fish and shrimp farmers. For consumers with loads up to 40 kilowatts connected to non-agricultural feeders, the rate has been reduced from Rs 6.60 to Rs 4.75 per unit under the FPO and agri-industry categories.
Big Relief for Everyone
The Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Fisheries Minister of Haryana, Shyam Singh Rana, assured farmers of a smoother process. High-quality fish seed will be provided, and separate markets will be established for fish and shrimp sales. Various initiatives are in progress, such as setting up soil and water testing laboratories in Yamunanagar, Rohtak, and Faridabad, renovating fish seed farms in Jyotisar and Sampla, and establishing modern fish markets in Hisar and Faridabad. A fish processing unit in Karnal is also under construction. The Minister urged officials to expedite work to meet deadlines.
