UGC NET December 2025 Exam Dates Out. Many candidates aspire to pursue higher education, even pursuing a PhD. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the dates for the UGC NET December 2025 exam. The exam will be held from December 31, 2025, to January 7, 2026, at various centres across the country. This exam serves three purposes: determining eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professorship, and PhD admissions. The NTA has advised candidates to regularly check all updates on the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

When and how will the exam be conducted?
The UGC NET December 2025 exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The exam will last three hours for 85 subjects across the country. The NTA stated that a subject-wise date sheet has not yet been released, but a detailed schedule will be released by the last week of November. The exam will consist of two papers, both conducted in the same session, meaning there will be no break after Paper I.
UGC NET Exam Pattern 2025
The exam will have two sections (Paper I and II), both of which will contain objective-type multiple-choice questions.
Part Marks Number of Questions Description
- Paper I 100 50 This tests the candidate’s teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, reading comprehension, and general awareness.
- Paper II 200 100 This is based on the candidate’s subject knowledge.
The exam, consisting of both papers, carries a total of 300 marks and lasts for 3 hours.
Admit Card and Exam City Slip
NTA will release the Exam City Intimation Slip 10 days before the exam, informing candidates of their exam centre city. Admit cards will then be released 3-4 days before the exam. Candidates can download them from the website.
Apply by November 7th
Online registration for the UGC NET December session has begun on October 7th, and the deadline for applications is November 7th, 2025. The application correction window will be open from November 10th to 12th, 2025. Candidates are advised to fill out the form well in advance to avoid a last-minute rush.
Application Fee
NTA has set the application fee by category as follows:
- General: ₹1150
- EWS/OBC-NCL: ₹600
- SC/ST/PWD/Transgender: ₹325
The fee can be paid via debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI.

- The most important thing to clear the UGC NET exam is a thorough understanding of the syllabus and pattern.
- Candidates should solve previous year papers, practice Reasoning and General Awareness daily, and make topic-wise notes for Paper II.
