UGC Ishan Uday Scholarship 2025 : The objective of the registration process for the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2025- created by UGC-is to encourage higher education among students of the North-Eastern Region (NER) of India. The scholarship renders significant financial help towards monthly maintenance for economically backward students willing to pursue undergraduate courses without a financial burden.
Eligibility Criteria
This opportunity is open to needy students of any of these eight northeastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. In this scheme, 10,000 scholarships are awarded every year. For students pursuing general undergraduate studies, a monthly stipend of ₹5,400 is provided, whereas for technical/professional/medical courses, it is ₹8,000. The scholarship would be paid for a maximum of 10 months in one academic year, and it can be renewed for another year according to the evaluation of the applicant’s academic record and continuance in the course.
Eligibility
Students who have passed Class 12 out from any recognized board of the northeastern regions and taken admission in the first year of a full-time undergraduate course in any of the recognized universities/institutions throughout India would be eligible for the grant. The family income of the applicant should not exceed ₹4.5 lakh per annum. The scheme does not cover scholarships for students studying in distant education/private institutions/under management quota seats.
Distribution of Scholarships Among Courses
Distribution of scholarships varies with the stream opted for. Fifty percent of scholarships are reserved for students of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, and Management. And yet another fifty percent reserved for Science, Engineering, Medical, Agricultural, and related streams of study. Hence, this distribution would provide due equity and representation for support toward studies in different streams.
Application Process
Application form is available on NSP at scholarships.gov.in; deadline for submission of forms is October 31, 2025. Students will first get registered on this portal, fill the form online, upload the required documents that include domicile certificate; Class 12 mark sheet; proof of admission; income certificate; and details of bank account. It is advisable to take a printout for their reference. A list of final selections is likely to be published in between November and December 2025.
