School Closed: Uttar Pradesh is experiencing severe cold weather and dense fog. Most states are experiencing a harsh winter. Due to the cold, schools have been closed in several states. In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered all schools from nursery to class 12 to remain closed until January 1st. Following this order, all schools in the state, including those affiliated with ICSE, CBSE, and the UP Board, will remain closed. Action will be taken against any school that does not comply with these rules.

Alert Issued for These Districts
According to details shared by the Indian Meteorological Department, dense fog has been reported in the districts of Baghpat, Meerut, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, and Budaun. In addition, a cold wave is expected in Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur, Sitapur, Hardoi, Lucknow, Barabanki, and Ayodhya.

Severe Cold in UP
Uttar Pradesh is currently experiencing a severe cold wave. In many districts, the fog is so dense that visibility is almost zero. Driving in such weather is extremely risky due to the heightened risk of accidents from poor visibility.

The school closures provide relief to children from the biting cold. It remains to be seen whether the weather improves in the first week of January or intensifies.

School Closures in Other States
In addition to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar has ordered schools up to class 8 to remain closed until December 30th. Schools up to class 10 will remain closed in Saharsa and Nalanda. School timings have also been changed for higher classes. Schools in Una, Himachal Pradesh, will be closed from December 29 to 31 due to the cold weather. Schools in Punjab have been closed since December 22 due to the cold wave. The date for schools to reopen has not yet been announced.
