JEE Main 2026 Exam Date Update: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is commencing the second session of the JEE Main 2026 examinations today,April 2,2026,across India and abroad. This examination for B.Tech/B.E. courses will be conducted in a computer-based mode until April 8. Examination centres have been established in 11 cities across Bihar,including Patna,Aurangabad,Bhagalpur,Darbhanga,Gaya,Muzaffarpur,Purnia,Arrah,Samastipur,Bihar Sharif,and Rohtas. Meanwhile,across the state,more than 73,000 candidates are expected to appear for the examination at over 33 centres.
However,in light of the ongoing conflict in West Asia,as well as date clashes with festivals and the CBSE Board examinations,the NTA has made several changes to the exam dates and centres. The objective of these changes to the examination centres is to provide greater convenience for candidates.
1. Impact of Tensions in West Asia
Given the ongoing conflict between Iran and the Israel-US alliance,several students had requested a change in their examination centres. To prioritise the safety and security of the candidates,the NTA has made the necessary changes to the candidates’ assigned centres.

2. Changes Due to the Easter Festival
Some students had requested a change to the examination date scheduled for April 5,as it coincided with Easter. Acceding to these requests,the agency has also revised the examination schedule.
3. Clash with CBSE Board Examinations
Many Class 12 students also appear for the JEE Main examination. To avoid any date clashes between the two examinations,the NTA coordinated with the CBSE and scheduled the candidates’ JEE examination dates in accordance with their respective Board exam schedules.
Examination to be Held in Two Shifts
The examination will be conducted in two shifts. The first shift will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM,and the second shift will run from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Entry for the morning shift will be permitted between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM,while entry for the second shift will be permitted between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM.
Ban on Electronic Devices
To prevent cheating,a ban has been imposed on all electronic devices,including mobile phones,smartwatches,calculators,Bluetooth devices,earphones,pen drives,and study notes. Additionally,CCTV cameras and signal jammers have been installed at the examination centres.
