PM Ujjwala Yojana was implemented in 2016. Let us tell you that the period of this scheme was ending in March 2024. But in the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was decided that this scheme will now continue till 31 March 2025. Under the PM Ujjwala scheme, all the poor families who are taking gas cylinders will be given 12 LPG gas cylinders with a subsidy of ₹300 per cylinder.

Great news for PM Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries

Let us tell you that in October last year, the government increased the subsidy on 14.2 kg gas cylinders from ₹ 200 to ₹ 300 for up to 12 refills per year. The subsidy of ₹300 per gas cylinder was for the current financial year which was ending on March 31. But on behalf of Union Minister Piyush Goyal, it was said that the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has now increased this subsidy and extended it till 2024-25.

This scheme was started to provide relief to poor families

Beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme also had to buy LPG gas cylinders at market price. However, due to the expensive fuel, he was not able to buy the gas cylinder. The government started giving a subsidy of ₹200 per gas cylinder to the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana in 2022. It was increased to ₹300 in October 2023.

If you are a beneficiary of a usual scheme, then after getting the subsidy of ₹ 300 per gas cylinder, the price of the gas cylinder will be Rs 603. The subsidy is paid directly into the bank accounts of connection holders.
