Subsidy on Agricultural Equipment: To strengthen farmers financially, the central and state governments run various schemes, including subsidies on agricultural equipment. These schemes help increase farming productivity and boost farmers’ income.
As part of this effort, a two-day Agricultural Mechanization Fair-cum-Exhibition was held at Harishchandra Stadium in Nawada district, Bihar. The event was inaugurated by the District Magistrate, who lit a lamp to mark the occasion. During the event, the District Magistrate emphasized the importance of using modern machines and techniques for agricultural progress. He also encouraged farmers to take full advantage of government schemes.
The District Magistrate stated that the main objective of this fair was to introduce farmers to advanced agricultural machinery and techniques to enhance their productivity. Additionally, raising awareness about various government schemes is also a key purpose of the event. He urged farmers to actively participate in the fair and learn about modern agricultural methods to improve their farming practices.
Up to 80% Subsidy on Agricultural Equipment
The District Agriculture Officer mentioned that at this fair, farmers can receive a subsidy ranging from 50% to 80% on 82 types of agricultural equipment. This year, the district has set a target of 1698, and so far, 706 farmers have received subsidized agricultural equipment.
‘Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization’ Scheme
He also highlighted the ongoing centrally sponsored scheme, ‘Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization.’ Under this scheme, agricultural equipment banks costing Rs 20 lakh are being set up. The district has received 12 targets, and all 12 have been completed.

Establishment of Agricultural Equipment and Farm Machinery Banks
In addition, the district received seven targets for setting up Agricultural Equipment Banks, each getting a subsidy of Rs 4 lakh for a total cost of Rs 10 lakh. Five of these targets have already been completed. The district also received two targets for establishing farm machinery banks with an Rs 8 lakh grant for a total cost of Rs 10 lakh, with one bank already set up.
