Potential Benefits of a 4% DA Increase:

For an employee with a current basic pay of Rs 18,000 and receiving 60% DA, a 4% increase would result in a rise from Rs 10,800 to Rs 11,520 in their DA. Employees with a basic pay of Rs 44,900 would witness their DA surge from Rs 26,940 to Rs 28,736, translating to a monthly benefit of Rs 1,796. Similarly, employees with a basic pay of Rs 56,100 would experience a monthly benefit of Rs 2,244 due to the projected DA increase.

2% DA hike in January, how much now? 

The government increases employees’ dearness allowance twice a year, the first in January and the second in July. Regarding the first DA hike in 2026, the government increased the 58% dearness allowance given to employees by 2%, taking it to 60%, effective January 1st. Now, it is expected to be increased to 64% for July, which will take effect July 1st.

DA could increase by 3 to 4 percent!

The government’s first DA hike of the year is for the January-June period, while the second is for the July-December period. It is determined based on the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW). While the government hasn’t released an official update regarding the July DA hike, reports suggest an estimated 3 to 4% increase in dearness allowance based on the current AICPI-IW.
