CJP Protest Today: The Cockroach Janata Party has announced a second day of protest in the national capital, Delhi. In the absence of Abhijeet Dipke, Ajinkya Shinde is leading the protest. Meanwhile, the police have not granted permission for the protest at Jantar Mantar. This could lead to a repeat of the strictness seen yesterday. In such a situation, all eyes are on the Metro, considered Delhi’s lifeline. The biggest question is whether the Metro will remain open or closed today.
Will Metro to Continue Service Today?
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) imposed restrictions at several stations on Saturday, October 10th, at the request of the Delhi Police to prevent crowd movement. Currently, the restrictions imposed by the Delhi Metro have been lifted. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced the opening of entry and exit gates at all metro stations on Saturday night, October 10th. Interchange facilities have also been restored at the affected stations. Consequently, passengers can travel by metro on Sunday, October 11th.
Restrictions were put in place at 45 metro stations
In response to the planned CJP protest, the DMRC shut down entry and exit gates at 45 metro stations following a request from the Delhi Police. The restriction took effect at 9 p.m. on October 9th. While the gates were initially scheduled to stay open until 6 p.m., the restriction was extended to 10 p.m. due to safety concerns.
Commuters experienced disruptions from Rajiv Chowk to Kashmere Gate
The restrictions impacted numerous key Delhi Metro stations, including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Janpath, Mandi House, ITO, and Kashmere Gate. Transfer services were also limited at the New Delhi Metro station. According to the DMRC, transfer services have since been restored at all impacted stations.
What prompted the restrictions?
The CJP had organized a protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10. Taking into account the expected crowd movement during the protest and security needs in key areas, the Delhi Police asked for restrictions at metro stations. In response, the DMRC limited entry and exit at the impacted stations.
