Bonus News: The Central Government has announced the annual bonus for Department of Posts employees for the year 2025-26. This bonus will be equivalent to 60 days of salary and will be calculated based on a bonus salary ceiling of ₹7,000. In an order dated October 16, 2026, the Department of Posts (under the Ministry of Communications) stated that employees eligible for the Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) include Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), Group ‘C’ staff, and non-gazetted Group ‘B’ staff.

While the department has not disclosed the specific PLB amount for these employees, it has shared the formula for calculating the maximum bonus. For regular employees, the PLB amount is calculated as Average Salary × Number of Bonus Days / 30.4 (where 30.4 is the average number of days in a month).

According to the order issued by the Department of Posts (Ministry of Communications) on October 16, 2026, eligible employees will receive a bonus equivalent to 60 days of salary. A maximum salary ceiling of ₹7,000 has been set for the purpose of this bonus calculation. This government decision will provide a direct financial benefit to lakhs of Department of Posts employees during the festive season.

Which employees are eligible for the bonus?
As per the Department of Posts’ order, the bonus will be provided to regular employees in the categories of Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), Group ‘C’, and non-gazetted Group ‘B’. Additionally, regular Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) will receive a bonus in the form of an ex-gratia payment. Furthermore, full-time casual workers and those with temporary status will be paid an ad-hoc bonus.

What will the allowance amount be?
For regular departmental employees, the salary used for this calculation includes basic pay, Dearness Allowance (DA), SB allowance, duty allowance, and training allowance for staff posted at training institutes. If the salary exceeds Rs 7,000 in any month during the year 2025-26, it will be capped at Rs 7,000 per month.

Employees who retire will also receive a bonus.
Employees who resign, retire, leave service, or go on deputation—either within the Department of Posts or to an organisation outside the department—during the period from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, will also be eligible for the bonus.

How much bonus will Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) receive?
For Gramin Dak Sevaks who have been on duty for the entire year during 2025-26, the bonus will be calculated based on the sum of their ‘Time-Related Continuity Allowance’ (TRCA) and Dearness Allowance (DA). The total TRCA and DA earned from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, will be divided by 12 to determine the average. If this amount exceeds Rs 7,000 per month, it will be capped at a maximum of Rs 7,000.
