FSSAI: If you and your family regularly enjoy everyday food products like biscuits, milk, and raisins, this update might concern and alert you. India’s food safety watchdog, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), has revealed troubling information and taken legal steps against three major brands.
The investigation results are deeply disturbing. The report shows that Priyagold biscuits contained animal feed instead of food-grade ingredients, while Dodla Dairy’s milk had detergent and caustic soda mixed in.
Animal Feed Found in Priyagold Biscuits
FSSAI has cracked down on Surya Food & Agro, which produces Priyagold biscuits. After receiving a customer complaint, FSSAI inspectors visited the facility and discovered cattle feed bran being used in biscuit production. The packaging clearly marked the material as intended only for animals, not people.
The factory had serious problems with hygiene standards, pest management, and how raw materials were stored. FSSAI had already revoked the company’s operating license due to these issues and is now pursuing court action.
Detergent and Caustic Soda Found in Dodla Dairy Milk
While milk is known as highly nutritious, Dodla Dairy’s situation is extremely troubling. When FSSAI tested a sample of Dodla Dairy’s full-cream milk, initial results showed unusually low fat content.
After the sample went to the Referral Food Laboratory, experts and researchers identified detergent and caustic soda in the milk, making it unsafe and potentially harmful to consume. The company and its suppliers now face serious legal consequences.
Toxic pesticides found in yellow raisins
Products sold under the guise of organic are no longer safe. The FSSAI team found pesticide residues in excess of the prescribed limit in samples of yellow raisins from UEIR Organic Foods. This means that the raisins, which people eat for their health, were being sold after mixing pesticides in them. The FSSAI has also filed a case against this company.
After this major action by FSSAI, it has become clear that blindly trusting even well-known brands can be detrimental to your health. Whenever purchasing packaged food or milk from the market, be sure to check the quality and immediately file a complaint on the FSSAI portal if you notice any defects or adulteration.
