EPF Money: Employees can withdraw funds from the EPF under specific conditions. The process for EPF withdrawals is now relatively quick. However, there can be delays in certain situations. These delays are often caused by incomplete documentation, issues with approvals, or mismatches in records. Keeping a few key points in mind can help you avoid these issues.
Have you updated your basic details?
First, it’s important to verify your name, date of birth, Aadhaar, and PAN details. These must be accurate in the EPF records, as even a minor discrepancy can slow down your withdrawal application. Next, review your KYC information on the member portal to ensure that everything is verified. If any KYC details are still pending, you can update them and request your employer’s approval. Your claim cannot be processed until your employer has approved your KYC information.
Check the status of your claim on the portal
Additionally, you should monitor the current status of your claim on the member portal. This will show whether your request is being processed, has been rejected, settled, or returned to the bank. Occasionally, claims are processed, but it may take a day or two for the information to reflect in your account. If the portal indicates that your claim is “settled,” but you haven’t seen the funds in your account, check your bank’s SMS alerts and statements.
In some cases, you might find that only a partial amount is credited to your bank account because only a segment of your EPF balance has been released. Generally, the employee’s share is disbursed, while the employer’s contribution or service details are still under verification. You can review your passbook to see which part of your EPF balance is still pending and which part has been paid.
One big reason why there are delays in getting your final PF settlement after leaving a job is that your employer hasn’t updated your exit date or service info. If this update isn’t done, EPF can’t process your full and final claim. In this case, you’ll have to reach out to your HR team to get your exit date updated. If your claim still isn’t processed after you’ve tried, you can file a complaint on the EPFiGMS portal. You’ll need to provide your claim details along with a screenshot of your bank proof. Usually, EPFO sends your complaint to the right officer within 2-3 days.
