Toll News: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is preparing to leave the toll collecting agencies on Expressway and National Highway. A meeting with banks has also been held in this regard and banks have also been ready for this work. The ministry is engaged in the churning of what will be the model of toll recovery banks.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, toll is being charged at about 45,000 kilometers out of the 1.5 lakh km long National Highway and Expressway network of the country. There are 1063 toll plazas across the country.

Preparation for big changes

At present, toll agencies do toll collection across the country. These agencies hire employees at the local level and charge tolls. The toll fee will be given to NHAI and Expressway Construction Company, which is fixed in terms. The ministry is going to make a big change on this model.

Preparation to end toll plaza

According to the Ministry of Road Transport, toll barriers will be eliminated in the country. This will save the time of the drivers. Although earlier there was a lot of collection of toll from GPS based technology, but now it has been changed. ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) technology will be used to recover the toll without stopping.

New model is becoming

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the work of handing over toll collection to banks is ready. For this, a meeting has been held with many public sector banks. Banks are ready for toll recovery from ANPR (automatic number plate recognition). The charge of toll will go to banks. After this, they will hand over to NHAI. In return, banks will work to install high quality cameras and install them. According to the ministry, it is being churned on how many days the banks will keep the money with them. It is likely that its model will also be finalized soon.
