Aadhaar Virtual ID: Aadhaar is one of the most essential documents for Indian citizens, as it is used for a variety of purposes. However, its increased use has also increased the risk of fraud and misuse. Keeping this security in mind, the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) introduced the Aadhaar Virtual ID (VID).
What is Aadhaar Virtual ID?
Aadhaar Virtual ID (VID) is a temporary 16-digit number linked to your Aadhaar number. It allows you to verify your identity without revealing your actual Aadhaar number.
You can create a new VID as many times as you want.
This VID cannot be used to generate the original Aadhaar card.
There is no fee to be paid for creating VID.
It can be easily created from the official website of UIDAI.
How to create Aadhaar Virtual ID?
Visit the official website of myAadhaar.
Scroll down and click on “VID Generator.” Direct link: VID Generator
Select “Generate VID”, enter your Aadhaar number and captcha, then click “Send OTP”.
Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
Click on “Submit”.
Your 16-digit VID will be sent to your Aadhaar linked mobile number and email ID.
Keep these in mind
Only one VID is issued at a time.
The VID remains valid until you create a new one. Its maximum validity is 1 day.
You can create VID any number of times if you wish.
You have two options when creating a VID:
Retrieve: Retrieving a previously issued VID.
Regenerate: Create a new VID and invalidate the old one.
