Procedure for changing the surname

Documents required to change surname
The most important and primary document for changing surname in Aadhaar card after marriage is marriage certificate. This certificate is the legal proof that you are married and you have changed your surname.
To update the information in Aadhaar, you have to go to your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra. There you will have to fill a form which will include name, Aadhaar number and other details. Along with this form, you have to attach photocopies of the required documents (such as marriage certificate) and take the original documents along for verification.
After submitting the documents at the center, your biometric details will be taken and your new photo will be taken. Once this process is completed, your information is updated.
