Making UPI payments is going to become even easier. Now, you will be able to make payments using your fingerprint or face ID without entering a PIN. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is planning to launch a biometric payment system. This system will make transactions safer and smarter than before. But now the question is: what is a biometric payment system, and when will this new facility be available?
What is Biometric Payment System?
In the biometric payment system, you can use your fingerprint or face ID to make payments. It is safer and easier than using a PIN or password. PIN or password can be copied or stolen, but this is hard to do with fingerprint or face ID.
It works the same way as unlocking your phone. Just like you unlock your phone with your fingerprint or face ID, you can also make payments in the same way.
When will this start?
NPCI has not said the exact date when this system will start. But they have said that they want to make UPI payments safer and easier. This means, in the coming days, you may be able to pay without a PIN and use fingerprint or face ID instead.
Big UPI Changes from August 1
From August 1, some new rules will start for UPI. These changes are:
- Auto-pay requests will be sent only before 10 AM and between 1 PM to 5 PM.
- You can check your balance only 50 times in one day.
- There will be limits on checking payment status and transaction history.
- These changes are to make UPI safe and better for everyone.
