UIDAI– The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is publishing anonymised, de-personalised datasets from the Aadhaar dashboard on the government’s open data portal data.gov.in with an aim to enhance transparency and support data-driven policy making.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said that these datasets have been released by the Chief Data Officer and Deputy Director General of UIDAI, which provide concise information about Aadhaar enrollment, updates and authentication according to geographical areas, age groups and other areas. The IT Ministry said, “This initiative opens new avenues for evidence-based policy-making and technological innovation.”

It is also in line with the Government’s broader vision of using open data to promote transparency, digital inclusion and more efficient governance.

UIDAI said the open datasets will support academic research, digital innovation and collaborative development efforts across sectors. “By making these anonymised datasets publicly accessible, we reaffirm our commitment to data governance and securing the public good,” the ministry said. The announcement comes at a time when Aadhaar adoption is steadily growing across the country. As of April 30, Aadhaar verified transactions crossed 150 billion. There were around 210 crore such transactions in April alone, which is 8 percent more than April last year. Electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) transactions also increased to 37.3 crore in April, which is 39.7 percent more than last year. Overall, eKYC transactions have exceeded 2393 crore.

UIDAI also revealed that more than 100 public and private sector system entities are using Aadhaar based face authentication for seamless service delivery. For FY 2024-25, Aadhaar number holders carried out more than 2707 crore verified transactions.
