UAN Activation: An important news has come out for the working people which is related to EPFO’s ELI scheme. Employees Provident Fund Organization i.e. EPFO has again extended the deadline for UAN activation and linking bank account with Aadhaar under the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme for its employees. What is UAN and why is it important?
UAN i.e. Universal Account Number is a 12 digit number which EPFO issues once to every employee. How to activate UAN?
The government has also said that employees can activate their UAN very easily through Aadhaar based OTP. You have to go to the EPFO member portal and enter the necessary information like UAN number, Aadhaar number, your name, date of birth and mobile number linked to Aadhaar. After this, you have to verify your identity through Aadhaar OTP. When the OTP is entered correctly, your UAN is activated and a password is also sent to your registered mobile number. With this password, you can avail all the online services of EPFO.
What are the benefits of UAN activation?
After activating UAN, you can use many facilities of EPFO online. This includes managing your PF account, viewing and downloading PF passbook, taking advance, withdrawing funds, transferring and updating personal information. Especially for those employees who want to take advantage of the ELI scheme, UAN activation and linking bank account with Aadhaar is mandatory. If both these tasks are not done on time, then you may be deprived of the benefits of the scheme.
So those who have not yet been able to activate their UAN or link bank account with Aadhaar, should complete this work as soon as possible so that all the necessary processes are completed by the deadline of 30 June 2025.
