Traffic Challan- Big news for vehicle owners. If you have any pending traffic challan in Delhi, now you have a chance to settle it. Delhi Traffic Police and Delhi State Legal Services Authority are going to organize National Lok Adalat on 13 September 2025. On this day, old challans and notices can be easily settled.
Where will the Lok Adalat be held?
The Lok Adalat will run from 10 am to 4 pm and seven court complexes of Delhi have been selected for this. These include Patiala House, Karkardooma, Rouse Avenue, Tis Hazari, Dwarka, Saket and Rohini. Vehicle owners can go to these places and clear their challans.
How to download challan?
People can download their notices and challans by visiting the Delhi Traffic Police website (https://traffic.delhipolice.gov.in/notice/pay-notice/). This facility has become active from 10 am on Monday. The limit of downloading challans has been set at 60,000 per day and a total of 1,80,000 challans can be downloaded till September 13.
Which documents will be required?
To clear the challan in Lok Adalat, you will have to keep three things with you.
Copy of Challan/Notice
RC of the vehicle (Registration Certificate)
Valid ID proof of vehicle owner
Lakhs of challans have already been settled
Lok Adalat has been organised earlier also. Lakhs of challans were settled in the Lok Adalats held on 10 May and 8 March. In the Lok Adalat held on 8 March alone, 1,53,437 challans were settled, which cost around Rs 405 crore. According to the data of Delhi Traffic Police, Rs 1.7 crore was recovered from settling traffic challans alone in the Lok Adalat held in May.
How many challans can you settle?
There is also a limit on settling challans in Lok Adalat. For private vehicles, a maximum of 7 pending challans or notices can be settled (5 notices and 2 challans). Whereas for commercial vehicles, this limit will be only 2 notices or challans per vehicle. Generally, one has to go through a long court process to settle the challan, but in Lok Adalat this work is done at a discount and in a very easy way. This is the reason why thousands of people come to take advantage of it.
