Sthree Suraksha Scheme: The Sthree Suraksha Scheme has been introduced to enhance the economic and social security of women. The Kerala government rolled out this initiative specifically for women who can’t access any other government social security programs. Launched in October, the application process for this scheme is now open. Eligible women will receive financial support of Rs 1,000 each month through this scheme.
The government anticipates that around 31.34 lakh women in the state will benefit from this initiative. The Kerala government has set aside an annual budget of about Rs 3,800 crore for it. The funds will be directly deposited into the beneficiary’s bank account. Local authorities will review the applications before the payments are made. The money will then be transferred to the account via the Kerala Social Security Pension Company.
Who can benefit from the scheme?
To qualify for the Stree Suraksha Scheme, applicants must be residents of Kerala and aged between 35 and 60. The woman’s family needs to have a valid ration card (AAY or PHH). An Aadhaar card is also required, and she should not be employed in a regular government position.
What documents are needed?
When applying, the woman must provide proof of residence in Kerala, documents verifying her age (like a birth certificate, school record, driving license, or passport), her Aadhaar card, bank account details along with the IFSC code, a valid ration card, and a self-declaration letter confirming her eligibility.
