SBI Card: Big news for SBI Card holders. Several important rules have changed for SBI card users starting November 1st. If you use your credit card to pay for Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, or any other wallet, or pay school or college fees through a third-party app, it will now impact your wallet. SBI Card has revised its charges and fee structure, effective today, November 1, 2025.

Under the new rules, a 1% transaction fee will now apply to digital wallets for deposits exceeding Rs 1,000. This means that if you add Rs 2,000 to your wallet, you’ll now have to pay an extra Rs 20. Furthermore, a 1% fee has also been implemented on education-related payments, but this fee applies only if the payment is made through a third-party app.

Which payment will not attract extra charge?

However, SBI Card has also clarified that if a user pays school or college fees directly through the institution’s website or through an on-campus POS machine, no additional charges will be levied. This means that those paying directly will receive relief, while those paying through aggregator apps will face increased burden. Furthermore, SBI Card has also established some additional fees.

Cash Payment Fee: Rs 250

Cheque Payment Fee: Rs 200

Payment Dishonor Fee: 2% of the transaction amount, minimum Rs 500

Cash Advance Fee: 2.5% (minimum Rs 500) at any ATM in the country

Card replacement fee: Rs 100 to Rs 250 (up to Rs 1500 for Aurum cards)

Late payment charges: Minimum Rs 400 to maximum Rs 1300, depending on the outstanding amount

SBI Card says these changes are designed to provide users with a more transparent fee structure and better financial management. However, customers will now need to be more vigilant with their transactions, as even small charges can become a burden.
