34,566 ration card holders of Palamu district associated with National Food Security have got a big relief! The central government has extended the deadline for e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) till June 30. Earlier, its last date was fixed as 30 April. Now the people of Palamu have got more time to update their KYC. Know the full news in detail.
E-KYC work should be completed at all costs

Jai Patil, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Food Supply, has issued a letter and strictly instructed all the states to complete 100% e-KYC work in this period. He has clearly stated that the subsidy of states that do not have 100% e-KYC will be stopped. Along with this, the allocation of grains will also be reduced. The central government has made e-KYC mandatory for all ration card holders to prevent transparency and duplication in grain distribution.
The slow pace in Palamu
So far, 92.40 percent of ration card holders in Palamu district have been e-KYCed. However, due to the e-POS machine being 2G here and the network not being available on time, a family has to wait for several hours to get KYC done. This situation has become a big challenge for those poor families who earn their living by doing daily wage labour.
Lakhs of beneficiaries still deprived of e-KYC
The total number of beneficiary members associated with National Food Security in Palamu district is 19 lakh 36 thousand 699. Out of these, only 13 lakh 94 thousand 362 members have been able to get e-KYC done so far. Still 05 lakh 42 thousand 337 beneficiaries are deprived of e-KYC. Despite repeated extension of time by the government, the inability to get KYC done for such a large number of people is a matter of concern.
Date extended repeatedly
The central government has extended the period for e-KYC four times so far. Earlier its last date was 31 December 2024. But due to non-completion of e-KYC in the stipulated time, it was extended till 31 March. Even till March 31, only 90.70 percent ration card holders and 68.56 percent members in Palamu district could get e-KYC.

After this, the deadline was again extended to 30 April, and by this date 92.40 percent ration card holders and 72 percent members could get e-KYC. Now it remains to be seen how many more beneficiaries are able to complete this process by the extended last date of June 30.
